At Florius we unpack Summerflowers and prepare them for auction sales. We supply almost all the Dutch auctions, whole year round. This is possible because the flowers are grown imported from Kenya and Ethiopia. Kenya and Ethiopia are ideal countries to grow flowers because of its good climate, with good levels of sunlight and moderate temperatures year round. Kenya and Ethiopia also have extensively developed airport/coldstore infrastructure, to maintain the products high quality.

Florius Summerflowers are grown on four farms with a total of 80 ha. These farms together employ 1000 people. The workforce benefit from working in the flower industry, because the unemployment in the country in general is high. Together with a competitive salary they also receive a hot lunch every day.

Starting point for Florius: 'Our customer is the king'. Florius is concerned about the working conditions in Africa and tries to auction flowers, which are grown in an environmentally friendly way. Quality is our trademark. That means good quality produce and aiming at a consistent supply year round. Last but not least: Florius as well as subsidiary company breeder Allplants are constantly looking for improvements in variety and the breeding of new varieties.
